Wix contact form not working after a change

Reviewed October 24, 2026 · White Dot

A contact form that worked for months often stops after a small change: the form was duplicated, rebuilt, or handed to a new team member. Start by finding out which version of Wix Forms you have, because old and new forms keep their notifications in different places.

Old or new Wix Forms?

Wix has two form systems. New forms are created with Create New Form in the editor's Contact & Forms panel. Old forms come from the Old Forms templates. Wix's article on the difference between them shows how to tell which one you have.

  • On old forms, the notification email is an app automation. In Automations, open App automations and look for the one with your form's name.
  • Old and new forms use different "Form submitted" triggers. If your form isn't in the list after you pick the trigger, you picked the trigger for the other system.

You duplicated the form and notifications stopped

A duplicated form is a separate form. The existing automation stays connected to the original, so the copy sends nothing until you add it to that automation or create a new one for it.

You get two emails for every message

Two active automations use the same trigger for the same form. This happens when a custom automation was added while the one Wix created was still active. In Automations, find both and deactivate the one you don't need.

Your reply goes to a no-reply address

Open the form's automation and turn on the Dynamic Reply-To Email option in the email settings. Replies then go to the address the visitor typed into the form.

A team member doesn't get the emails

  • A collaborator role notifies only the people assigned to it. A role with nobody in it notifies nobody.
  • Someone whose invitation is still pending gets nothing. They have to accept it first.
  • Collaborators need Wix Inbox permissions, set in Roles & Permissions.
  • To notify someone who isn't a collaborator, add them as a contact on your site first, then add them as a recipient.
  • Adding a new recipient doesn't remove the old one. Remove anyone who should stop getting the emails.

Still nothing arrives?

If the form saves entries but no email comes, use our checklist for missing notification emails. If you're not sure which part fails, start with finding the step that fails.

Test it

Send a message through the contact form with a test name such as "Contact test 24 Oct". Check that one email arrives, at the right address, and that clicking Reply opens a reply to the email you typed in the form.
