Wix form submissions are saved, but notification emails are missing

Reviewed October 8, 2026 · White Dot

If Wix saved the submission but you didn't get an email, check the notification automation and its recipient first. Then search your mailbox, spam and quarantine. A saved entry and an email in your inbox are separate steps.

If you use native Wix Forms, follow the dashboard checks below. Old and new forms can have different menus. For a custom or API-backed form, start with the custom-form checks.

Where did the notification stop?

Use the same submission and timestamp for each check

The entry appears in the correct form's submissions table.Wix saved the entry. Next, check whether it sent an email.Record the form identifier and submission time/time zone. Inspect the notification automation attached to that form.
No matching run appears in the available automation logs. There's no matching run in the history you can see.Read its active state, trigger/form selection, conditions and delays. Confirm the date range and published version. If older history is unavailable, ask the administrator to help.
A run exists, but its email step is pending, skipped or failed. The automation started, but its email step hasn't completed.Read that step's status, input/output and error. Compare the recipient selection and conditions. Do not rerun it against a real submission.
The email step completed, but the intended mailbox has no alert.Wix reports that the step completed. Check the recipient's mailbox next.Confirm the actual recipient. Search its mailbox, spam and quarantine using the submission time and expected sender. Ask its administrator to trace that email if needed.
One recipient gets the alert; another does not.The email reached one person. Check the other address and mailbox.Compare selected recipient roles/addresses and each mailbox's trace. Avoid changing all notifications or weakening global spam rules.

Check the Wix settings

In Forms & Submissions, find the form with your saved entry. Then open its notification in Automations and check the summary and run log. Match the time, published version and step details to that submission.

In Send an email, check who receives the message. The customer who filled out the form and the person who needs the internal alert are different recipients. Check the collaborator or external-contact group selected for your notification.

Search spam, junk and quarantine for the expected sender and time. If you still can't find the email, ask your mail administrator to trace it. Have them review any mailbox rule you propose; don't change DNS settings just to test delivery.

If your form is custom or API-backed

A custom form may save entries outside Wix Forms. Ask its maintainer where it saves them, which form identifier it uses and what starts the notification.

Wix's Create Submission API creates a Forms submission and a Submission Created event. Check that the notification listens for that event on the correct form, then check its email step and recipients.

If the form uses another database or mail service, follow that service's logs and settings. For a missing CRM record, use the missing lead checklist.

Test with an inbox you control

  1. Use a separate test form and notification automation that you have permission to use. Save the settings and check all the actions. Remove customer emails, SMS, sales sequences and other recipients before submitting. If you can't separate the test, only inspect the logs.
  2. Choose a mailbox you control and get its owner's permission for a test alert. Use fictional name DEMO-WIX-001 and message Notification check DEMO-WIX-001. Use the controlled mailbox only where an email address is required; never use a customer's address.
  3. Submit once and record the exact time/time zone. Find the matching stored entry and automation run. Inspect the email step status and resolved recipient; a delay or unavailable log is not a delivery result.
  4. Check your test mailbox, including spam and quarantine. If the email arrives, save its time and message ID with private details removed. If it doesn't, keep the email step's result and ask your mail administrator to trace it.
  5. Stop when the observations disagree. Do not replay a production run, delete a submission, broadly disable security controls or change DNS to force delivery. End the isolated test under your agreed test-data procedure.

If you need more help

Stop if the test could message a customer or you're unsure who will receive it. Ask the site administrator for help with access or live changes. Check saved submissions while alerts are unreliable, so you can still reply to inquiries.

Keep the form and submission IDs, time and time zone, form type, automation version, run ID, email step result and intended recipient. Add the mailbox trace if you have one. Remove customer details, passwords and private dashboard links before sharing.

A backup alert while you fix it

Lead Guard, White Dot's app on the Wix App Market, sends a Slack alert for every form submission Wix records and shows whether each alert was delivered.

It doesn't change your Wix email notifications, and it can't alert you about submissions Wix never saves. The alerts contain the form name, the time and a dashboard link, not your visitors' answers.

View Lead Guard on the Wix App Market (7-day free trial, then $7.99/month).
